An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty will require a very high quality development appropriate for its setting.

Why are New Homes needed?

All local authorities are required to produce a plan to demonstrate that they have allocated enough land for population growth and changing patterns in household formation. Bath & North East Somerset Council have identified Sulis Down as an appropriate location for a carefully considered neighbourhood of around 300 homes. The position of Sulis Down on the edge of a World Heritage City, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and adjacent to the South Stoke Conservation Area will require a very high quality development appropriate for its setting.

The allocation includes Sulis Manor and Odd Down Football Club, as well as the fields indicated.

In the plan below, a heavy green line marks the new designated boundary of the Green Belt. The land that it encloses (coloured in a stone colour) is all on the Odd Down plateau.
